http://www.cnn.com/2016/03/14/politics/john-kasich-gop-primary-pennsylvania-ballot/index.html talks about an issue that I suspect should be researched more and added to this article. In summary:

• Ohio governor John Kasich filed an application to be included on the primary election ballots in the state of Pennsylvania that had 2,184 signatures. The application requires at least 2,000 signatures.
• A Marco Rubio supporter filed a petition that 802 of the signatures on the John Kasich application were invalid.
• The Kasich campaign has admitted that at least 192 of the 802 names listed on the petition were in fact invalid. This would put Kasich under the 2,000 signatures needed.
• However, Kasich campaign is also saying that the petition itself is invalid as it was filed too late.
• The deadline for filing the original application was 5:00pm. The law says that objections must be filed within seven days of the filing deadline but does not specify a time. The petition was filed on the last day allowed but at 5:13pm. I believe the petition was filed on-line.
• The deadlines were set decades ago and in the past coincided with the close of the business office meaning 5:00pm. The state allows many things to be filed on-line and presumably accepts things due on a particular day up through 11:59pm of that day.

The matter has gone to court with the Kasich campaign arguing that the deadline is 5:00pm and the Rubio campaign arguing that the deadline is midnight at the end of the day. If Rubio is sucessfull then John Kasich will not be in the ballot in Pennsylvania. Kasich has stated that winning Pennsylvania is A key element to his campaign. What is Kasich's position on campaign finance reform / overturning unlimited secret contributions via dark pools?

There are plenty of reports today that Kasich will suspend/end his campaign. So far, those reports cite to only unnamed sources, and there is no official word from the campaign. Until a reliable source surfaces, this should stay out of the article, including any reference to "was running" and the like. SeeWP:RSBREAKING.Brianga (talk)17:15, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
