I suspect that this star was a member (the brightest?) of the now-obsolete constellation ofFelis, which is why it has been given its proper name by the IAU. However, I have been unable to establish this one way or the other.Cuddlyopedia (talk)10:59, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Chair of the WGSN has confirmed to me in private email that this star was indeed the brightest in the constellation. I have noted this in the article, albeit with a 'citation-needed' tag.Cuddlyopedia (talk)09:11, 14 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
