Wasn't there that speech/comment by the Harvard president about women's academic skills being different to those of men? The picture in the info box shows Lisa unmasking herself with Skinner (still wearing a skirt) in the background. I didn't remember that, so I watched for it in tonight's airing, and as far as I can tell, Skinner wasn't present at all at the award ceremony. Look at the detail in the picture. It is a drawing, most likely a promo pic, not a still from the episode.
This entry does mention that Lisa throws an object at Martin. The point, however, is that female masculinity is deemed accpetable when male femininity is not. The viewer is supposed to sympathize with Lisa's pursuit of math, but Martin faces violence, even from a progressive like Lisa, for practicing the flute. This is similar to how tomboys are tolerated but "sissies" are punished. As touchy as the subject contained within the episode summary itself, I believe it prudent to remove the text (noted in bold) that mentions:
"Disillusioned by this "pro-female"(and illogical) bias toward one of her favorite subjects..."
As a female, I find this offensive. I have personally experienced the belief that women are inherently illogical, or cannot think logically, and this belief is persistent in the area which I live. Whether the actual bias mentioned is illogical or not, all biases can be considered illogical by different folk and should be considered an opinionated statement (and as an opinion has no root in an encyclopedia entry). If it is an opinion of acharacter on The Simpsons, it should be mentioned as such:
"Disillusioned by this "pro-female" bias toward one of her favorite subjects,noted as illogical by (character name), Lisa climbs over the wall into the boys’ school compound, which is now rife with with stray wolves, burnt out vehicles, garbage and excessive graffiti."63.23.45.77 (talk)10:08, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
