misspelled?

[edit]

If you paid any attention to the commentary, her name is Ellen McClain. T_T -Anon—Precedingunsigned comment added by124.185.20.100 (talk)23:55, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

all the sources indicate the spelling "McLain" is correct.xenocidic (talk)15:16, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Within the commentary for Portal, her name is spelt "McClain" or "McClane" several times. Her voice is also used within the other games in the orange box, and the credits in the manual booklet thing list her as "McClain" in one game, and "McClane" in another. I just think they didn't know how to spell her name, and different people guessed different ways =] --86.156.229.17 (talk)19:47, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone add a recording of her voice?

[edit]

I've played some of these games but I can't think of her voice. Since she is a voice actor would a recording of her voice be acceptable material?--68.188.157.172 (talk)17:20, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's partly because she's REALLY good at doing other tones. I could lift a couple seconds of her speaking naturaly from the Portal commentary, if that's an acceptable entry. --Kinkoblast (talk)16:46, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe get her saying "This is the final test" from the start of Test Chamber 19 in Portal. I'll search for info on copyright laws, but I'm pretty sure it'll be okay. It's just a couple seconds.Flash man999 (not logged in)203.189.4.118 (talk)06:17, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Add an image? I've found several with google, can an image of a person be copyrighted?

Relevance?

[edit]

"She is the only person to have her voice in all the games in The Orange Box."

Wow, don't know how relevant this is guys.—Precedingunsigned comment added by60.234.225.89 (talk)12:47, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I fail to see the relevance of this article at all. It's not like every person who contributed to a game in some way needs their own wiki bio, unless they're especially notable.60.242.31.57 (talk)13:53, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is very notable. I think many players of the games (and there are a lot) would want information about the very likable characters voiced by Ellen, and they need a page to codify that information.Sushovande (talk)20:35, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Turret opera (Portal 2)

[edit]

I believe she also does the opera singing for the turret opera bit, not sure of any citations I can provide though. I'm referring tothis.

Mild Vandalism

[edit]

No, she is not married to Gabe Newell.— Precedingunsigned comment added byDubhuir (talkcontribs)22:30, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Left 4 Dead 2

[edit]

An additional Filmography note, she provided the voice of the witch in L4D2. Ref:http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1655889/—Precedingunsigned comment added by60.234.241.127 (talk)02:10, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's a bit misleading. The witch's voice is provided by stock sound effects of female crying and growling, not Ellen. Ellen's voice isn't heard in the firstLeft 4 Dead game except for in "Still Alive" on a jukebox added in "The Sacrifice". InLeft 4 Dead 2, Ellen only provides the operatic soundtrack singing for the Wandering Witch during daytime maps.Dogman15 (talk)10:59, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Best Performance by a Human Female"

[edit]

'In December 2011, she won the Spike Video Game Award in the category "Best Performance by a Human Female" for her voice acting as GLaDOS in Portal 2, unhindered by the ironic fact that GLaDOS isn't actually a human female.'What exactly is the point here? As it's written, the award is for the best performance BY a human female, not FOR [the presentation of] a human female. I fail to see the irony.Weirdtheory (talk)17:35, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Count to three

[edit]

She voiced the GlaDos part in the Chalkeaters song "count to three"2603:9001:5D01:C8F2:2590:B55C:28FA:359C (talk)17:47, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That is listed in the filmography section.Schazjmd (talk)18:02, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

1952/53???

[edit]

What's that supposed to mean?169.236.78.23 (talk)03:44, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It means that a source reported her age, and based on the year that her age was reported, she was either born in 1952 or 1953.Schazjmd (talk)15:21, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
