Not seeing any evidence of the change having happened. Are there secondary sources to back this up? Opening 3 entrances is not the same as renaming. —Joeyconnick (talk)23:46, 20 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
To be fair, the Dundas station article name was changed to TMU after the station signage at platform level was updated. The same is happening at Eglinton West too -[3][4][5][6]. They are in the same limbo state. One Wikipedia article has been updated, but this one has not?PascalHD (talk)01:01, 21 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Eglinton West station →Cedarvale stationCedarvale station – Eglinton West station was officially renamed to Cedarvale station on Nov 16, 2025 along with Dundas station (nowTMU station). Dundas station's page has already been updated toTMU station meanwhile Eglinton West currently remains with its former name. NOW Toronto has stated that Eglinton West had already been officially renamed to Cedarvale inthis article. The TTC also stated that they are in the process of changing signage from Eglinton to Cedarvale soonhere. Also station route maps shows Cedarvale station with "Formerly Eglinton West" underneath it (Image provided byBlogTO)Nanannathan18 (talk)04:08, 21 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Comment – For clarification, the current situation appears to be that the TTC has been installing temporary signage with both stations' new names as a lead-up before they "officially" change them over the next few months. Local news have been reporting on this, but the phrasing of their article titles make it seem as if the name change has already occurred. The NOW Toronto article linked above claims Eglinton West station has been officially renamed Cedarvale station without elaboration, which appears to be in reference to the three new station entrances being opened. Yet as stated, the TTC page for the station states that the name change is yet to be made "officially". In essense, we're currently in a transitionary stage where the TTC is trying to familiarize the public with the name prior to the change being "official".
I personally don't feel strongly either way. Yet, sinceTMU station was moved recently with seemingly no opposition, I'd personally lean towards asupport, given that both stations are currently under the same circumstances. However, if there is continued opposition over moving this article prior to the "official" change, then I feel as if it's also worth revisiting the TMU station move as well.OrdinaryScarlett (talk)05:30, 21 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Moving TMUback would be insane at this point. The difference here is that, if I recall correctly, the TMU name change had a TTC target date of November which is sourced, whereas there's no date, not even month-wise, given by any official sources for the switchover of Eglinton West to Cedarvale. Local media in the clickbait era are, of course, jumping the gun and making sign changes done in preparation seem like it's an indication that it's all a done deal.
For this station, probably best to wait for an announcement by the TTC of the name change or, alternatively, for an announcement of an actual opening date for Line 5, on which date the article can be moved since we have sourced info this station's name change is being made in conjunction with it becoming a Line 5 station. —Joeyconnick (talk)17:56, 21 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t really contribute to enwiki any more, but here’s my take, for what it’s worth:
The situation with Cedarvale, judging from NOW’s report, is identical with TMU’s. On TTC’s website, Eglinton West’s station info page also shows a notice that’s identical to that on Dundas’s (the rename has started and will be completed in a fewweeks, not months). I was at TMU on Friday; the quality of the “temporary” signage is good enough that you can’t really tell it’s temporary, especially given how the permanent signs in some of the newer stations are constructed.
(ETA: The only differences between the two stations, to be honest, is that TMU will take up the cost of renaming Dundas, and TTC will have to take up the cost of renaming Eglinton West; plus the Crosstown portion of Cedarvale is still not completely open. That’s all. No difference.)
Also, as a Torontonian, I’d say the editorial direction of NOW has not changed. It has always been a tabloid-type publication; if NOW was good as a reference 10 years ago, it’s hypocritical to say it’s no longer good.al12si (talk)22:26, 22 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Support based on theTTC's press release from 24 Nov (today) announcing the opening of Line 6: "The opening of Line 6 also means the names of two existing TTC stations will officially change on December 7. Eglinton West Station will become Cedarvale Station, while Dundas Station will become TMU Station. These changes mean Line 1 trains will now announce arrival at the stations with their new names."RA0808talkcontribs21:00, 24 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
