Agree. There should be a wikipedia article for "EOSIO" (this one, which is about the blockchain software), and a new wikipedia article for "EOS" which is the blockchain using the EOSIO software.

Request to add Wikilink

[edit]
Thisedit request has been answered. Set the|answered= parameter tono to reactivate your request.

As perMOS:DL, please create wiki link forBrendan Blumer in the infobox just like it is done forDaniel Larimer in the same field.

This needs to be done in the "original authors" field of the infobox because adding a wikilink in the infobox is helpful for readers to navigate as perMOS:DL.

This is also the first occurrence of the name in the article and as far as the article for Brendan Blumer exists, this should be wikilinked.203.82.59.110 (talk)11:08, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Distributed equally?

[edit]

"computing resources distributed equally among EOS cryptocurrency holders"This is misleadingVizslah (talk)13:42, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It is definitely misleading. A more accurate statement would be something like "computing resources are distributed in proportion to the number of tokens staked for each of the two renewable resources, CPU and Network." More info on this is available here:https://www.eoscanada.com/en/what-does-staking-and-unstaking-eos-tokens-mean--Tom Cox (talk)20:32, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Brock Pierce

[edit]

Why isn'tBrock Pierce even mentioned in article??What's up with EOS? - Brock Pierce Interviewed by Roger Ver video (uploaded by "Bitcoin.com - Official Channel" on Oct 28, 2019) at YouTube has thumbnail (aka preview image) of "Exclusive interview with Brock Pierce co-founder of EOS". Wikipedia's Brock Pierce article currently says "currency was named EOS and marketed through a new vehicle called Block.one of which Pierce was variously described as co-founder, head, minority partner and advisor." --EarthFurst (talk)00:52, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Brock was included in article once (perhaps more than once), but wasremoved with this edit in 2018 April with edit summary ofa story at fortune.com that "Block.one" had parted way with Brock. But that fortune.com story also said Brock Pierce had "co-founded" the startup Block.one which was "developing blockchain platform EOS", so i think article should include him in the block.one section of this Wikipedia article. --EarthFurst (talk)02:45, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Brock should be mentioned in the article's history. But if he is no longer involved, not sure if he should be in the infobox.Jtbobwaysf (talk)04:19, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Split this article

[edit]

This article is linking 3 different topics together which should be separate articles

  • EOSIO the blockchain software
  • EOS the blockchain (cryptocurrency)
  • Block.one the company who developed EOSIO but has nothing to do (day-to-day) about EOS

Can we split this in 3?Mdarwin (talk)

Change intro of EOS.io to better reflect the relation between block.one, EOS and EOS.io

[edit]
Thisedit request has been answered. Set the|answered= parameter tono to reactivate your request.

  • What I think should be changed:

"EOS.IO is a blockchain protocol based on the cryptocurrency EOS."

On the faq for EOS.io it states: "EOSIO is a highly performant open-source blockchain platform, built to support safe, compliant, and predictable digital infrastructures. It supports public networks such as EOS, Telos, and WAX, and private networks alike. EOSIO is fast, flexible, and forward-driven, enabling developers, entrepreneurs, co-creators, and institutions to build and innovate with confidence." which more or less aligns with B1 statement on their about page.

Removing all the corporate/advertising speak it basically boils down to the following:

  • Change it to:

"EOS.IO is a blockchain protocol built by block.one that allows people to build their own cryptocurrency token and governance.

  • Why it should be changed:

This makes it seem as if EOS.io is relying on EOS for it to work, which is factually wrong. The EOS.io framework allows for different cryptocurrencies such as EOS, Telos and WAX to build on top of EOS.io. I get that the naming convection is very confusing but having wrong information on the wiki page for said protocol/product makes it even more confusing.

  • References supporting the possible change:
