Despite the Catholic Encyclopedia article, the requirements for the vicar capitular after the 1983 Code of Canon Law are less stringient. Canons 416-430 discuss the vacancy, and only 425 #1 talks about the requirements of the vicar, which is 35 years of age and must not be succeeding to the see at the time of election. #2 mentions oustanding in doctrine and prudence, but that is all. Thus, licenses or doctorates are no longer required of the vicar capitular.Pmadrid17:02, 18 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
