IMO it's the other way around. The son or daughter is not the prize, the one who's dating the mum is; as is obvious from the "We're gonna win this" line that keeps getting repeated by every single team. I have a problem with the term 'game show' period. Its just a bunch of stale scripted banter spoken by people who could act their way out of a shedded paper bag.
