Original research

[edit]

This article had a lot of original research, with information without sources. Moreover, many "information" had sources, but when you open them and read them, the "information" were not in the given source. I removed them.Xuxo (talk)18:41, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnic declarations

[edit]

" For example, in the 2010 census, especially in the state ofPiauí, many people who had no Oriental origin for some reason classified themselves as "Yellow" in the census. As a consequence, Piauí and other states appeared ahead of the state of São Paulo when it comes to their Yellow proportion, even though it is historically known that most Asian immigrants, mostly Japanese, settled in São Paulo"

Curious how exactly that was determined. Isn't the point of the census to determine who is actually living in a given region? Did they do a second census after the first only this time they had an independent observer note down the apparent ethnicity of the subject, and then they compared the results to the official census and determined they had given a different answer previously? Did they do a poll on the people? If so why would one assume the answers were wrong in one case and not in the other? Maybe they lied on the poll and not the census. Or is it just a case where they looked at the results and said "ah, clearly that's nonsense, everyoneknows most of the people of Asian heritage live in Sao Paulo, they must have lied on the census form". Doesn't that make the entire census worthless as a method to determine who actually lives in a region, if you can just look at the results and say "well that's clearly wrong, because we already know who lives there"? Did someone actually go out into the region and investigate and see whether massive numbers of Asian Brazilians hadn't relocated for some reason? Did they interview people and find large numbers who admitted to claiming to be Asian on the census even though they aren't? If so why is the reason that they made this claim still unknown? If you actually verified it was untrue you could have found out why they did it at the same time.Idumea47b (talk)10:34, 30 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
