“Garrett's account leaves it unclear whether Bonney was killed instantly or took some time to die”
The following paragraph is in the “death section”. Reading Garrett’s version of events clears up the confusion; “I drew my revolver and fired, threw my body aside, and fired again. The second shot was useless; the Kid fell dead. He never spoke. A struggle or two, a little strangling sound as he gasped for breath, and the Kid was with his many victims.” Besides the initial phrase, “fell dead”, which could suggest he died instantly, the words “struggle or two, a little strangling sound as he gasped for breath” seems to make it clear BTK was alive for a few moments after Garrett shot him. The Billy the Kid article has been included in the category "Former Roman Catholics."
