MAS title usage

[edit]

@Gobucks821 I've revertedthe changes you made Re:substituting Adderall for "MAS products" throughout the article.

Adderall is the title of this article and the usage of Adderall to refer to the specific amphetamine salt composition in both Adderall and Mydayis dosage formulations is underpinnedby previous consensus on this article's talk page. Moreover, thenote in the title sentence of this article clarifies the usage of Adderall throughout the article.

For those reasons, in future you need to gain consensus on this article's talk page before making a change like that.Professional Crastination (talk)05:02, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why I added [citation needed]

[edit]

Hello,

I hope I'm doing this correctly! I am new to editing and trying my best to follow all guidelines. I just added acitation needed tag to the following sentence: "The levoamphetamine component of Adderall has been reported to improve the treatment response in some individuals relative to dextroamphetamine alone."

I added this because there isno robust evidence for this claim -- and "has been reported" is, in my humble opinion, vague and dubious. Adderall is a direct remnant ofObetrol, which is an antiquated anti-obesity medication. Obetrol hails from the era where pharmaceutical companies would simply combine several controlled substances and test the result (example). I.e., Adderall's specific 3:1 combination of amphetamine salts is -- particularly in the context of being indicated for ADHD -- an arbitrary fluke, rising to the status of a first-line ADHD treatment principally for monetary reasons (as it is simply the latter formulation of Obetrol rebranded). Not to be presumptuous, but I may also add adubious tag. I hope this clarifies my reasoning, and please let me know if additional clarification on my part is needed. Thank you.173.169.248.124 (talk)02:01, 24 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Update: Decided on[weasel words] instead ofdubious for "has been reported to".

Update 2: Changed "re-patented" (erroneous) to "rebranded" and clarified that it is a rebranded version of the latter/last formulation of Obetrol. I would also like to clarify that although the information is readily available, I am going to avoid -- out of an abundance of caution -- mentioning any specific pharmaceutical company as a new editor.

Dextroamphetamine Sulfate vs Amphetamine Sulfate

[edit]

Hello,

I will preface this saying that I have very little experience with chemistry, let alone with pharmacology.

The salt mixture is listed as:

   amphetamine apartate monohydrate 25% - stimulant (12.5% levo; 12.5% dextro) amphetamine sulfate 25% - stimulant (12.5% levo; 12.5% dextro) dextroamphetamine saccharate 25% - stimulant (0% levo; 25% dextro) dextroamphetamine sulfate 25% - stimulant (0% levo; 25% dextro)

Wouldn't it be clearer and, in my opinion, more accurate to list the salt mixture as:

   amphetamine apartate monohydrate 25% - stimulant (12.5% levo; 12.5% dextro) amphetamine sulfate 50% - stimulant (12.5% levo; 37.5% dextro) dextroamphetamine saccharate 25% - stimulant (0% levo; 25% dextro)

Dextroampetamine sulfate is just the right-handed form of amphetamine sulfate, right?Minnie1089 (talk)08:41, 24 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
