Cleanup/Clarification

[edit]

20th Century Fox Animation, according toIMDb and any other source I could pull up, exists only as the boutique distribution label for theBlue Sky Studios films and the company's other animated output. It is not involved in any of the Fox television shows or their feature/direct to DVD derivatives (which are distributed by20th Century Fox Television and produced by outside studios; The Simpsons Movie was distributed by 20th Century Fox proper). This film division was also not involved in any of the pre-Fox Animation Studios films that Fox distributed (FernGully,Once Upon a Forest, etc.) --FuriousFreddy (talk)22:26, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The reporting structure on the page is wrong, and doesn't match the citation. Rob & Andrea report to Alan Horn. So do others, including Emma and Jennifer. Rob & Andrea do NOT report to Alan, Emma and Jennifer, like the wiki entry states.

Change "On March 21, 2019, Disney announced that the 20th Century Fox Animation label (including Blue Sky Studios) would be integrated as new units within the Walt Disney Studios with Co-Presidents Andrea Miloro and Robert Baird continuing to lead the studio reporting directly to Horn, Watts and Walt Disney Animation Studios chief creative officer Jennifer Lee."to "On March 21, 2019, Disney announced that the 20th Century Fox Animation label (including Blue Sky Studios) would be integrated as new units within the Walt Disney Studios with Co-Presidents Andrea Miloro and Robert Baird continuing to lead the studio reporting directly to Horn."Eolas38 (talk)20:02, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Change"reporting directly to Horn, Watts and Walt Disney Animation Studios chief creative officer Jennifer Lee."to"reporting directly to Horn."

Remove "The Wrap" citation, it's wrong. The Deadline citation has it correct, Rob Baird and Andrea Miloro (co-presidents of Fox Animation) report to Alan Horn, as do other creative heads of divisions including Jennifer Lee (Disney Animation) and Emma Watts (Fox live-action films).Eolas38 (talk)20:41, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

Since 20th Century Fox Animation was renamed "20th Century Animation", why haven't we changed the article's name yet?XSMan2016 (talk)19:37, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it was renamed but unfortunately since we need reliable secondary sources using the name, we may have to wait a little longer before renaming the article perWP:NAMECHANGES. That might never happen because this has become mostly a dormant unit since it was bought by Disney. Disney hasn't mentioned it in any press releases since after the acquisition. They've also removed any mentions of the studio from the website. So, it's almost impossible to get any news about the unit. If/once we have a couple reliable secondary sources using the new name, we'll do a move request. —Starforce1300:23, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in20th Century Animation

[edit]

I check pages listed inCategory:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content fororphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of20th Century Animation's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct forthis article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "THRReview":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not.AnomieBOT00:16, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Animation365 (talk)17:59, 9 March 2022 (UTC)The Bob's Burgers Movie would be 20th Century Animation's first film to have the company credited.[reply]

For example: "20th Century Studios, 20th Century Animation and 20th Century Family present" for The Bob's Burgers Movie.

Animation245 (talk)13:34, 31 March 2022 (UTC)With the seventh Ice Age film and the third Rio film currently in development, 20th Century Animation will act as a typical animation studio like Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios.[reply]

Proper references

[edit]

Large chunks of this article are not properly referenced.Wikipedia:Verifiability is a core principle, not an optional extra. The various tables that include Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic scoresconsistently fail to provide references for that information, making it excessively difficult for readers and editors to check that false information has not been inserted (or as frequently happens that over enthusiastic fans have not replaced the the main scores with the more favorableuser scores). Other infomation such as the Box office gross and the budget should be properly sourced, that information is not as definitive as this article looks, many films have conflicting reports of how much was actually spent on their production budget.

It would be a good idea to decide if all this information is really necessary at all, but if editors do decide to keep it then it should be properly sourced, and inline references added in all cases. --109.79.72.233 (talk)19:57, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

20th Century Animation vs Fox Animation Studios

[edit]

I'm confused about the relationship between 20th Century Animation andFox Animation Studios. At different sections, the articles state one was a subsidiary of the other, one (as Fox Family Films) co-produced with the other, and one became the other. I know very little about movie studios, but editingAnastasia, I couldn't figure if "20th Century Fox Animation" should even be mentioned.70.163.208.142 (talk)06:01, 20 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WP:FANSITE

[edit]

Please note thatWP:FANSITEs should not be used as references. If information has not yet been published by a reliable source (or press release) then it has not been "reported" and remains rumor. That means that sites such as TheDisinsider.com or DisneyPlusInformer.com or Whatsondisneyplus.com should not be used as references in this article, if you see them please remove them.

Specifically the entry for the upcoming Wimpy Kid film is using TheDisinsider.com as a reference. That reference should be removed or replaced. --109.79.167.143 (talk)14:07, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

20th Century Animation outsourcing most of its original films to 20th Arts in Glendale, and Canadian houses in Vancouver and Montreal.

[edit]

20th Century Animation does not have an in-house animation style but rather outsources the actual hand-drawn and CGi animation production to its sister company, 20th Arts inGlendale, with Canadian offices inVancouver,British Columbia andMontreal,Quebec while pre-production and post-production is 20th Century Animation based. This is due to the closure ofBlue Sky Studios in April 2021. It is similar toSony Pictures Animation who outsources most of its films to Sony Pictures Traditionalworks for hand-drawn animationSony Pictures Imageworks for CGi animation.JennyD44 (talk)18:20, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the logo

[edit]

I don't think the logo for TCA is official. According to the file history, it was sourced from Logopedia, which traced it from a png from the Disney Wiki. The source image came from fan account Disney TV Animation News, and the source logo appears to have been photoshopped, given the original image looks fuzzy.Raymondsze (talk)00:20, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: Whether something is a media franchise or not isn't strictly defined by the number of films that are released. It's more about derivative works being released across more than one medium, which seems to be satisfied here considering Anastasia was adapted into astage musical.Day Creature (talk)17:47, 21 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Ping @Mr. Doggy Dog. Sources directly callingAnastasia a franchise (this avoidsoriginal research), or clarity of wording about film franchises may be appropriate.Commander Keane (talk)00:49, 22 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@CallahanKieranKiki42, I see you have not discussed here and gone aheadand made the (incorrect) revert anyway.
Despite theerroneous edit summary, Mr Doggy Dog's version looked correct:
  • Ice Age (2002–present) and Rio (2011–present) are the studio's most commercially successful franchises, while Anastasia (1997), Robots (2005), [...] are among its most critically praised films.
If you read carefully, this version doesn't say that Anastasia isn't a franchise.
Your version:
  • Anastasia, Ice Age and Rio are the studio's most commercially successful franchises, while Robots (2005), [...] are among its most critically praised films,
implies that the Anastasia franchise made more money than the Diary of a Wimpy kid franchise. And it removes the mention thatAnastasia was a good movie.
Thelead portion of a Wikipedia article is a summary, it is not necessarily a listing of all franchises (although your version also fails to do this too).
Please fix the error you have introduced. The old version looked good to me, although The Simpson's franchise could probably be dealt with here too by:
  • Ice Age (2002–present) and Rio (2011–present) are the studio's most commercially successfulfilm franchises, while Anastasia (1997), Robots (2005), [...] are among its most critically praised films.
