Takis Mehmet Ali (born 17 June 1991 inOberhausen) is a German politician who was aMember of the Bundestag for theSocial Democratic Party of Germany.
In the2021 German federal election, Ali contestedLörrach – Müllheim but lost toDiana Stöcker from theChristian Democratic Union. He was number 22 on thestate list inBaden-Württemberg and was entitled to sit in the Bundestag.[1]
In parliament, Ali served on the Committee on Petitions and the Committee on Labour and Social Affairs.[2]
Mehmet Ali's parents immigrated to Germany from Greece and Turkey in the 1980s. He is single and resides inBadenweiler. He is aGreek Orthodox Christian. He came out as gay in 2021.[4]
