Takazumi Katayama (片山敬済, born April 16, 1951) is aKorean formerGrand Prixmotorcycleroad racing world champion who raced as aJapanese.[1]
Katayama was the first Asian rider to win a motorcycle road racing world championship when he claimed the1977 350ccworld championship aboard aYamaha. In1979 he accepted an offer fromHonda to develop their exotic oval-cylinder,four-strokeNR500 race bike. After retiring from competition, Katayama became a motorcycle Grand Prix racing team owner.
