TheTābiʿū al-Tābʿīn (Arabic:تَابِعُو ٱلتَّابِعِينَ, singularTābiʿ al-Tābʿīnتَابِعُ ٱلتَّابِعِينَ) is the generation of muslims after theTābi‘ūn inIslam.[1]
The view of theSunnis and theSalafis is that the first generation ofMuslims are called thecompanions of Muhammad. The second generation of Muslims are calledtābi‘ūn "Successors". The third generation are calledtabi‘ū al-tabi‘īn[2] "successors of the Successors".[3] The three generations make up theSalaf-us-Saalih[4] the "Pious Predecessors", of Islam.
The Sunnis define a successor of the Successors as a Muslim who:
In a Hadith, The NabiMuhammad said, "The best people are those living in my generation, then those coming after them, and then those coming after."Sahih Bukhari[5]
