Syun Koide (小出 峻,Koide Shun; born 26 October 1999) is aJapanese racing driver who won the2022 F4 Japanese Championship title. He is also part of theHonda Formula Dream Project.[1]

Career

Japanese Formula 4

In 2020 Koide made his debut in single-seater racing in theF4 Japanese Championship. He was originally scheduled to compete for theHonda Formula Dream Project team, butHonda withdrew its entry due to theCOVID-19 pandemic in Japan. He ended up competing with Vegaplus from the second round onwards along withKakunoshin Ohta. He finished the season in tenth.[2]

In 2021 he continued to race in theF4 Japanese Championship with theHonda Formula Dream Project team. He took one race win and finished the season in sixth.[2]

In 2022 he missed out on move toSuper Formula Lights, and stayed with the team.[3] Koide ended up winning theF4 Japanese Championship title ahead of his teammate Yusuke Mitsui. On his way to the title he scored a total of nine race wins.[2][4]

Super Formula Lights

For 2023 Koide competed inSuper Formula Lights withToda Racing.[2][5] In that season, he had over 4 wins, and 7 podiums to date.Koide continues to compete in the series, as he moves toB-Max Racing Team.[6] Koide won the Drivers' Championship with two races to spare, and took eight wins and three further podiums en route to his title, with his closest challengers Kobayashi and Nonaka only claiming three and five wins respectively.[7]

Super GT

Koide competed in the GT300-class of the2023 Super GT Series withTeam UpGarage alongsideTakashi Kobayashi.[2][8] Koide won his first GT300 race in the first round of the series inOkayama International Circuit.[9] then he won as well in Suzuka. Koide continues partnering Takashhi Kobayashi at Tean UpGarage for 2024.[10]

GT500

Koide then stepped up to GT500 withReal Racing as he replacesKakunoshin Ohta who moved toIMSA SportsCar Championship's GTP class.[11]

Super Formula

Koide stepped up toSuper Formula in 2025 and race withB-Max Racing Team as he replacesIori Kimura.[11]
