It is directly dependent on theSyriac Catholic Patriarch of Antioch (with see in Beirut), but not part of his or any otherecclesiastical province, and depends in Rome on theDicastery for the Eastern Churches.

Established in 1991 asPatriarchal Exarchate of Jerusalem (Palestine and Jordan), on territory (Palestine and (Trans)Jordan) previously without proper Ordinary of theparticular churchsui iuris, which was governed asPatriarchal Vicariate of Jerusalem of the Syriacs.
