Daniel Sydney Ayres[1](August 28, 1879 – September 9, 1916)[2] was an Americansilent film actor,director andscreenwriter. Ayres was also a theater actor.[3][4][5]
Born inNew York City, Ayres was known for his handsome, suave looks.[6][7] He often simultaneously acted and directed films after 1913. In 1916, Ayres died frommultiple sclerosis[citation needed] at the age of 37, in Oakland.
Ayres had also a successful acting career on stage, from 1902 onwards at least.[8]
