
Swinford is anucleated village andcivil parish in theHarborough district of the English county ofLeicestershire. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 586.[1] It used to be on the formerA427, which led under theM1, toCatthorpe. The parish church is All Saints, a 12th-centuryNorman rebuilding of an earlierSaxon church with a 14th-century squarebell tower and aGrade II* listed building.[2][3] The local pub isThe Chequers on the High Street, formerly known asChequer Inn.[2]

Its Anglo-Saxon name was "Suin Heaford" meaning "the head of the Suin" referring to a tributary of theRiver Avon.
Awind farm was constructed north of the village at Swinford Corner and commenced operation in Autumn 2012. It consists of 11 turbines, each of 2MW capacity and is operated byVattenfall.[4][5]
