TheSwift River is an 8.3-mile-long (13.4 km)[1]river located in easternNew Hampshire in theUnited States. It is atributary of theBearcamp River, part of theOssipee Lake /Saco Riverwatershed leading to theAtlantic Ocean. The Swift River is located only four miles south of the larger and longerSwift River which parallels theKancamagus Highway in theWhite Mountain National Forest.
The Swift River begins at the confluence of Paugus Brook and theWonalancet River[2] in the northern part ofTamworth, New Hampshire, south ofMount Chocorua. The river flows southeast through a narrow valley, which opens up as it reaches Tamworth village. The Swift River slows before joining the Bearcamp River between the villages of Whittier andWest Ossipee.Mill Brook joins near the Swift River's mouth.
