
Jazz was introduced inSweden during the 1920s, and was spread through dancehalls and concerts. During the 1930s and 1940s the popularity was increasing, together with increasingrecord sales. It was by this time that the firstjazz clubs were started in Sweden.
The golden age of Swedish jazz is considered to be during the 1950s, with artists likeArne Domnérus,Lars Gullin,Alice Babs andMonica Zetterlund.
East-West Records was a jazz record label active during the 1950s which featured American and Swedish musicians.[1]
TheStockholm Jazz Festival was established in 1980.
