Svalbardosaurus is agenus from the LowerTriassic, initially identified as anichthyosaur but later reinterpretted as anamphibian.[1]
Thetype species isSvalbardosaurus crassidens, named and described byJean-Michel Mazin in 1981.[2] The generic name refers to theSvalbard archipelago, of whichSpitsbergen is a part, where the remains have been found. Thespecific name means "thick tooth" inLatin. The genus is solely based on some conical teeth and often considered anomen dubium.
