In the2006[4] and 2001[5] state assembly elections Jane Alam Mian ofRSP won the Suti assembly seat defeating his nearest rivalMd. Sohrab ofCongress/ Independent. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Md. Sohrab of Congress defeated Shish Mohammad of RSP in 1996.[6] Shish Mohammad of RSP defeated Chitta Mookherjee ofBJP in 1991,[7] Rand Md. Sohrab of Congress in 1987[8] and 1982.[9] Md. Sohrab of Congress defeated Shish Mohammad of RSP in 1977.[10][11]

Shish Mohammad of RSP won in 1972.[12] Md. Sohrab of Congress won in 1971[13] and 1969.[14] S. Mahammad, Independent, won in 1967.[15]Lutfal Haque of Congress/ Independent won in1962,[16]1957[17] and inindependent India's first election in 1951.[18]
