Sushil Kumar Jain known professionally asSushil Doshi is an Indian journalist, writer, sports commentator[1] and the firstcricket commentator inHindi.[2][3] Born to Niranjanlal and Madan Kunwar atIndore, in the second largest Indian city ofMadhya Pradesh, he graduated in engineering fromShri Govindram Seksaria Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS)Indore[4] and started his commentating career in 1968 at theNehru Stadium for aRanji Trophy match between Madhya Pradesh andRajasthan.[2] Over the years, he is reported to have covered nineCricket World Cups, 85test matches and over 400One Day Internationals, besides severalTwenty20 Internationals.[5] His contributions are reported in making cricket commentary in Hindi popular.[6][7] He has also written two books in Hindi on sports,Khel Patrakarita published in 2003[8] andCricket Ka Mahabharat, published in 2016.[9]

Awards and recognitions

The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of thePadma Shri, in 2016, for his contributions to sports.[10] The commentators' box atHolkar Stadium,Indore has been namedSushil Doshi Commentators' Box in his honor.[11]
