Galgamuwa Vidanalage Susantha Punchinilame (born 6 April 1961) is aSri Lankan politician, originally fromRatnapura and the son ofG. V. Punchinilame.[1][2] He is a member ofparliament and a government minister.
He was the main suspect in the murder ofNalanda Ellawala, a member of parliament who was killed during a shootout between supporters of theUnited National Party and thePeople's Alliance inKuruwita on 11 February 1997. However, Punchinilame was cleared of all charges and subsequently released on 18 December 2013.[3][4][5]Furthermore he is the main suspect of Padmasiri Threemavithana's murder in Koslanda, Sri Lanka.[citation needed]
