Surf is an offlinebrowser game developed byMicrosoft that is shipped with theMicrosoft Edge web browser. In the game, the player must control asurfer as they move across a body of water while also collecting power-ups and evading obstacles and akraken. The game features three game modes (Endless, Time trial, and Zigzag), has character customization, and supports keyboard, mouse, touch and gamepad controls.[1] When customizing the character, a penguin that looks likeTux can be used. The player can also zoom out using the browser settings to cheat in the game.

LikeGoogle Chrome'sDinosaur Game,Surf is accessible from the browser's offline error page and can also be accessed by enteringedge://surf into the Edge address bar.[2] Its gameplay has been frequently compared to the 1991 video gameSkiFree.[3][4] Microsoft also hosts a version with limited features that is playable from any modern web browser.[5] The game is also included with theAndroid andiOS versions of Edge.[6][7] Users can also play the game while waiting for Windows 11 setup to finish.[8][9]

In the skiing theme, the player is chased by the Abominable Snowman fromSkiFree.

In 2021, a limited-time only seasonal theme was added that changed the surfer to askier on a snowy mountain as a homage toSkiFree.[10] The kraken was also replaced by theAbominable Snowman (Yeti), also fromSkiFree.[11]
