TheSun Fast 20 is a Frenchtrailerablesailboat that was designed byPolishnaval architectJacek Centkowski as acruiser-racer and first built in 1985.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
The Sun Fast 20 is part of the Sun Fast sailboat range.[8]
The design was built byJeanneau in France starting in 1985, and Poland starting in 1993. Production in 1999 with 500 boats completed.[1][2][3][7][9][10][11]
The Sun Fast 20 is a recreationalkeelboat, built predominantly ofpolyesterfiberglass, with the deck having abalsa core. It has a 7/8fractionalsloop rig, with a deck-stepped mast, a single set of sweptspreaders andaluminum spars with continuousstainless steel wire rigging. The hull has a slightlyraked stem, a walk-throughreverse transom, a transom-hungrudder controlled by atiller and a retractablelifting keel. It displaces 1,720 lb (780 kg) and carries 595 lb (270 kg) ofcast iron ballast.[1][2][3]
The boat has a draft of 4.26 ft (1.30 m) with the keel extended and 0.82 ft (0.25 m) with it retracted, allowing operation in shallow water, beaching or ground transportation on atrailer.[1][2][3]
The boat is normally fitted with a smalloutboard motor for docking and maneuvering.[1][2][3]
The design has sleeping accommodation for four people, with a double"V"-berth in the bow cabin and two straight settee berths in the main cabin. Thehead is a portable type and is located in the center of the "V"-berths.[1][2][3]
For sailing downwind the design may be equipped with an asymmetricalspinnaker of 304 sq ft (28.2 m2), flown from a retractablebowsprit.[1][2][3]
The design has ahull speed of 5.82 kn (10.78 km/h).[2][3]
The boat was at one time supported by a class club that organized racing events, theSun Fast Association.[12][13]
