Summit Air (8199400 Canada Inc.[5] is a Canadian airline headquartered inYellowknife that operates scheduled, charter and cargo aviation throughout theNorthwest Territories,Nunavut, andYukon. Summit Air is a member of theLedcor Group of Companies and operates in partnership with several other companies and communities including theHaisla Nation (Summit Kitamaat Aviation Limited Partnership),[6]Air Baffin (Summit Air Baffin),[7] theDet'on Cho Corporation (Det’on Cho Summit Aviation LP),[8] and businesses in theKitikmeot Region (Summit Air Kitikmeot).[9][10]
Summit's head office is in Yellowknife and they operate in most of Western Canada with bases inTerrace,Lillooet, andKamloops inBritish Columbia, andFort McMurray,Edmonton, andCalgary inAlberta. In the Northwest Territories, their bases include Yellowknife and Norman Wells.[11] They also operate out of the United Kingdom for theMinistry of Defence and theFalcon Demonstration Team, a parachute team of theRoyal Air Force.

Summit Air started inAtlin, British Columbia in 1987. In January 2001, the base of operations was moved toYellowknife. TheLedcor Group of Companies became a partner on June 1, 2009. In August, 2012 Summit acquiredArctic Sunwest Charters and all aircraft operated by them were re-branded as Summit.
In January 2015, the airline acquired anAvro RJ85 jet aircraft which is being operated by Summit forCanadian North for use on services from Yellowknife and Edmonton. A second Avro RJ85 has since been ordered[12] and Summit Air has now added largerAvro RJ100 jet aircraft as well.[13]
