TheSumba languages are a subgroup of theAustronesian language family, spoken onSumba, an island in easternIndonesia.[1][2] They are closely related to theHawu-Dhao languages.[3]
A preliminary internal classification by Asplund (2010) recognizes three branches of the Sumba languages:[2][4]
