TheSumatran water shrew (Chimarrogale sumatrana) is ared-toothed shrew found only in the Padang highlands of westernSumatra,Indonesia. Its natural habitats are streams inmontane forests. The species is only known from aholotype, which is damaged, and was previously listed ascritically endangered byIUCN.[2] It is believed to be severely threatened byhabitat loss.[3]
