Sudhanshu Trivedi (born 20 October 1970) is an Indian politician and former professor. A leader of theBharatiya Janata Party andMember of Parliament from its Upper House, theRajya Sabha since 2019, Trivedi is a seniorNational Spokesperson of theBharatiya Janata Party.[4][5][6][7][8]
Trivedi was born on 20 October 1970 inIndira Nagar,Lucknow,Uttar Pradesh to U.D. Trivedi and Priyamvada Trivedi.[9] He studiedEngineering and holds aPh.D. inMechanical Engineering[10] fromDr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (previously U.P. Technical University),Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.[11]
Trivedi was a faculty member at theMechanical Engineering department of many universities including theMahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday Vishwavidyalaya. He worked as an information advisor to the formerChief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and as political advisor to the former BJP NationalPresidentRajnath Singh.[12] During the2014 Indian General Elections, he was one of the members of theBJP's media team.[13] As of 2016[update], he is the national spokesperson of the BJP.[14][12]
Trivedi was elected unopposed to theRajya Sabha in the October 2019 by-election from Uttar Pradesh. The seat had fallen vacant after the demise of former Union MinisterArun Jaitley.[15][16]
Trivedi lives at Pandara Road, New Delhi. He is married to Shalini Tiwari on 8 May 2009 and has a son and a daughter.[9]
