Strife is an Americanhardcore punk band fromThousand Oaks, California. They formed in 1991.[3][4]
Their first LP,One Truth, was released in 1994 viaVictory Records.
Their second album,In This Defiance, was released in 1997 and includes guest appearances, withChino Moreno ofDeftones,Dino Cazares ofFear Factory andIgor Cavalera ofSepultura all taking turns on the album.[5]
They broke up two years later citing creative differences and exhaustion. Victory Records releasedTruth Through Defiance, a compilation of live tracks and previously unreleased material.
They reunited in 2000, playing several benefit concerts. By the following year, they had re-formed and releasedAngermeans. No longer straight edge, this album was considered by the band to be a more mature and focused continuation ofIn This Defiance.[6]
Since 2001, they have played several shows and tours all over the globe again, including a Japan tour with Floorpunch in 2011, a tour of South America, a European tour, and some dates in Mexico.
They traveled to Brazil to recordWitness a Rebirth.[7] Guitarist Andrew Kline commented the album would be "more along the lines ofIn This Defiance". It was also revealed thatIgor Cavalera, formerly ofSepultura andCavalera Conspiracy, would be handling all drum duties for the album.
