Stole Dimitrievski (born 25 December 1993) is a Macedonian professionalfootballer who plays as agoalkeeper forLa Liga clubValencia and theNorth Macedonia national team.

After starting off atRabotnički in 2010, he has spent most of his career in Spain. He has made over 125 La Liga appearances forGranada,Rayo Vallecano and Valencia, as well as 108 in theSegunda División forGimnàstic and Rayo.

Dimitrievski earned 28caps for North Macedonia at youth level, and made his senior international debut in 2015. He represented the nation atUEFA Euro 2020, their first major tournament.

Club career

Early career

Born inKumanovo, Dimitrievski graduated fromRabotnički's youth setup.[citation needed] He made his debut for the club on 24 October 2010, starting in a 2–0 home win againstVardar.[citation needed]

Dimitrievski was Rabotnički's first-choice during the2011–12 season, also appearing with the side inthe season'sUEFA Europa League. He signed a contract with SpanishLa Liga clubGranada on 23 August 2011, with the deal only being effective in December.

Granada

On 30 December 2011, Dimitrievski wasloaned toCádiz.[3] However, he only appeared withthe reserves inTercera División and moved to anotherreserve team,Granada B in the summer of 2012.[4] On 12 October 2013, he was the last of three of the team's players sent off in a 2–1 loss atAtlético Sanluqueño forthe season'sSegunda División B.[5]

On 23 August 2014, after profiting fromRoberto's suspension andOier Olazábal's injury, Dimitrievski made his first team – andLa Liga – debut, starting in a 2–1 home win againstDeportivo La Coruña.[6] However, his spell at the club was mainly associated with the B-side.[citation needed]

Gimnàstic

On 16 August 2016, Dimitrievski signed a two-year contract withSegunda División clubGimnàstic, mainly as a cover to injuredManolo Reina.[7] He made his debut on 7 September in the second round of theCopa del Rey, a 1–0extra-time win at home toNumancia.[8]

AfterSebastián Saja's poor run of form, Dimitrievski became a regular starter for Gimnàstic in October 2016, but his run only lasted until December as Reina returned from injury. On 13 August 2017, after the latter's departure, he extended his contract until 2020.[9]

Rayo Vallecano

On 31 August 2018, Dimitrievski was loaned toLa Liga clubRayo Vallecano for a season.[10] Initially a backup toAlberto García, he became the club's first-choice in November.[11][12]

On 31 January 2019, Dimitrievski signed a permanent three-and-a-half-year contract with the club.[13] A year later, his deal was extended until June 2024.[14]

Dimitrievski was the primary goalkeeper for Rayo's2020–21 Segunda División promotion season, thoughLuca Zidane was in goal for theplay-offs due toUEFA Euro 2020.[15] On 2 December, in a 1–0 loss to fellowCommunity of Madrid teamLeganés, he wassent off for insulting thereferee and handed a four-match ban.[16]

Valencia

On 12 June 2024, it was announced that from the start of July Dimitrievski would join fellow top-tier clubValencia on afree transfer, signing a two-year deal, with an option for two more years.[17] He made his debut on 26 November in the first round of theCopa del Rey, a 1–0 win away tosixth-tierParla Escuela.[18] Due to injury to first-choiceGiorgi Mamardashvili, he played his first La Liga game for the club away toReal Valladolid on 13 December,[19] losing 1–0 and falling to last place in the table.[20]

International career

After representing Macedonia (now North Macedonia) atunder-17,under-19 andunder-21 levels, Dimitrievski made hissenior international debut on 12 November 2015, starting in a 4–1 friendly win overMontenegro at thePhilip II National Arena.[21] In May 2021, he was called up for the delayedUEFA Euro 2020 finals, his country's first major international tournament.[22] He played all three games in agroup stage elimination, and saved apenalty fromRuslan Malinovskyi in a 2–1 loss toUkraine inBucharest.[23]
