Stjepan Tomas (born 6 March 1976) is aCroatian professionalfootball manager and formerplayer. His previous clubs includeDinamo Zagreb,Vicenza,Como,Fenerbahçe,Galatasaray andRubin Kazan. He played ascentre-back, and at one point in his career asdefensive midfielder.
In August 2007, Tomas signed a two-year contract with Russian clubRubin Kazan, for a fee of €4.8 million.[1] On 31 January 2010, he signed a contract with Turkish sideGaziantepspor until the end of the season. Then he moved toBucaspor, a newly promotedSüper Lig team.
Tomas made his debut forCroatia in an April 1998friendly match againstPoland, coming on as a 60th-minute substitute forTomislav Rukavina, and earned a total of 49 caps, scoring 1 goal.[2] He was part of the team at the2002 FIFA World Cup, where he played in all three games in the group stage before they were eliminated. He was also on the national squad at theEuro 2004, but did not play in any games. He also played for the national team in their third and last game at the2006 FIFA World Cup againstAustralia, which became his final international appearance.[3]
On 15 November 2019, Tomas was appointed manager of Turkish Süper Lig clubAntalyaspor.[4]
On 21 June 2022, Tomas was appointed as Head Coach ofMoldovan Super Liga clubSheriff Tiraspol.[5] Four months later, on 25 October 2022, Tomas resigned from the role following the clubs first League defeat of the season, toPetrocub Hîncești, and two days before an away trip toManchester United in theUEFA Europa League.[6]
On 22 July 2024, Tomas was appointed as manager of Saudi Pro League clubAl-Okhdood.[7]
