Stephen Henry Bastable (born 16 September 1956, inBirmingham[1]) is a formermotorcycle speedway rider from England.[2]
His fatherHarry Bastable, was also a speedway rider.
Bastable spent the majority of his career with theCradley Heathens but in three years with theCoventry Bees he scored almost one thousand points.[3]
In 1978, he won theBritish League Pairs Championship withBruce Penhall, during the1978 British League season.[4] Three years later he won the 1981British Speedway Championship and the same season joinedSwindon Robins as the team captain.[5] He joinedCoventry Bees in 1983.[6]
In 1988, he won theNational League Pairs, partneringGraham Jones for theStoke Potters, during the1988 National League season.[7]
At retirement he had earned 18 international caps for theEngland national speedway team.[2]
