2022 studio album by Cole Swindell
Stereotype is the fourth studio album by Americancountry music singerCole Swindell . It was released on April 8, 2022, viaWarner Music Nashville . The album contains the singles "Single Saturday Night " and "Never Say Never ".
Stereotype is Swindell's first studio album sinceAll of It four years prior. Before the album's release, Swindell toldAmerican Songwriter that theCOVID-19 pandemic allowed him more time for song selection than his previous albums, and that he wanted to "put in something for everybody".[ 1] The song "She Had Me at Heads Carolina" is a reference toJo Dee Messina 's 1996 debut single "Heads Carolina, Tails California " which changes that song's perspective. Swindell contactedTim Nichols andMark D. Sanders , the writers of "Heads Carolina, Tails California", for permission to include elements of that song. According to Swindell, "it sounds a lot like the original song, but the lyrics are changed and it’s a whole different viewpoint".[ 1]
Zach Crowell , Chris LaCorte, andJordan Schmidt produced the album with Swindell's usual producer,Michael Carter . Prior to the album's release, it produced two singles; "Single Saturday Night " was the first, reaching number one on theBillboard Country Airplay charts in 2021. The second single is "Never Say Never ", a duet withLainey Wilson .[ 2]
In advance of the album's release, Swindell released two other songs digitally. The first was "Down to the Bar", a duet withHardy , on March 15, 2022. Hardy also co-wrote "Single Saturday Night" and "Every Beer" on the album. To support the album, Swindell also began a tour called the Down to the Bar Tour, which lasted from February to April.[ 3] After this, Swindell released the title track on March 31.[ 4]
