Stephen Spinella (born October 11, 1956)[1] is an American stage, television, and film actor.
Spinella was born inNaples, Italy, to a father who was an American naval airplane mechanic.[1] He grew up inGlendale, Arizona,[1] and graduated from theUniversity of Arizona with a degree in drama. He also attendedNYU'sTisch School of the Arts' Graduate Acting Program, graduating in 1982.[2]
Spinella won consecutiveTony Awards forBest Featured Actor in a Play andBest Actor in a Play for his performance as Prior Walter inAngels in America: Millennium Approaches andAngels in America: Perestroika in 1993 and 1994, respectively. He was also nominated forBest Featured Actor in a Musical in 2000 forJames Joyce's The Dead.
