Stéphane Wrembel is a French jazz guitarist.[1] Wrembel performsGypsy jazz but is also influenced byworld music.[2][3]
Wrembel studied classical piano from age four inFontainebleau, France, winning prizes in the Lucien Wurmser competition and at the National Conservatory of Aubervilliers,[4] before taking up the guitar at age sixteen "to learnPink Floyd songs,Led Zeppelin, oldGenesis, and all that stuff."[2]
While attending the American School of Modern Music in Paris, Wrembel went to theDjango Reinhardt Festival inSamois, France where he was inspired to study composition, arranging, jazz, and contemporary classical music.[4][5] After graduation, Wrembel was awarded a scholarship to theBerklee College of Music.[2][4][5]
His song "Big Brother" appeared on the soundtrack forWoody Allen's filmVicky Cristina Barcelona.[5] In 2011 he again collaborated with Allen, composing "Bistro Fada", the theme song for Allen's filmMidnight in Paris.[6]
