Chemical compound

Statine is a gammaamino acid that occurs twice in the sequence ofpepstatin, aprotease inhibitor that is active againstpepsin and otheracid proteases.[1] It is thought to be responsible for the inhibitory activity of pepstatin because it mimics the tetrahedraltransition state of peptide catalysis.[2]
