Staphida is agenus ofpasserine birds in the white-eye familyZosteropidae.
These species were formerly placed in the genusYuhina. Amolecular phylogenetic study published in 2019 found thatYuhina was notmonophyletic.[1] To create monophyletic genera these three species were moved to the resurrected genusStaphida that had originally been introduced in 1871 to accommodate theIndochinese yuhina by the English naturalistRobert Swinhoe inJohn Gould'sThe Birds of Asia.[2][3]
The genus contains the following three species:[3]
