Stanley Meadows (14 July 1931 – 16 September 2025) was an English actor.
Meadows was born inStepney,London on 14 July 1931,[1] the son of a sweet shop owner inStepney Green. He won a scholarship to Forest School, inEpping Forest, and eventually graduated fromThe Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1955.[2] After graduating he worked as a barman, storeman, waiter, and a shipping representative, while also performing in a variety of repertory companies. He worked withLaurence Olivier,John Gielgud andHarold Pinter, and starred in a number of plays onITV.[3]
As his career developed further, Meadows made frequent appearances in British films and became something of a stalwart of British television series includingPublic Eye,Undermind,Randall and Hopkirk andWidows (Eddie Rawlins).[4][5][6]
Meadows died on 16 September 2025, at the age of 94.[7][1]
