Stanko Barać (born 13 August 1986) is a retired Croatian professionalbasketball player.
Barać was born inMostar,Bosnia and Herzegovina and he started his basketball career with the teamŠiroki Prima pivo, fromŠiroki Brijeg, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He was selected by theMiami Heat as the 39th overall pick in the2007 NBA draft and was traded to theIndiana Pacers.[1] In July 2016 they passed their rights to theDallas Mavericks.[2][3]
Barać remained in Europe, signing a five-year contract withSaski Baskonia, then known as TAU Cerámica, in August 2007.[4] In the October of that year, just before the start of the European season, Saski Baskonia loaned him out to anotherACB team,Pamesa Valencia for the 2007–08 season.[5] He returned to Saski Baskonia the following season, and In November 2010, he signed a three-year contract extension that will keep him in Vitoria-Gasteiz through 2015.[4]
On 6 July 2011 he signed a three-year contract withAnadolu Efes of theTurkish Basketball League.[4]
On 5 January 2015 he signed a contract with the Croatian clubCedevita for the rest of the season.[6] With Cedevita, he won theCroatian League andCup.
On 28 August 2015 he signed withEA7 Emporio Armani Milano of the ItalianLega Basket Serie A.[7]
He also plays for theCroatian national team.
