Stan Burns (September 4, 1923 - November 5,[1] 2002) was an Americanscreenwriter. He was the partner ofMike Marmer.[2] Burns wrote for television programs includingThe Steve Allen Show,[3]The Tonight Show,Get Smart,[4]The Carol Burnett Show,F Troop,Gilligan's Island andThe Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.[2][5]
Burns won and was nominated for fivePrimetime Emmy Awards between 1959 and 1973, winning in 1972 for work onThe Carol Burnett Show.[6] He died in November 2002 ofheart failure at theMotion Picture & Television Fund cottages inWoodland Hills, California, at the age of 79.[7][8]
