Stacey Michelsen (born 18 February 1991) is a New Zealandfield hockey player. She has competed for theNew Zealand women's national field hockey team (theBlack Sticks Women), including for the team at the2010,2014 and2018 Commonwealth Games and the2012 and2016 Summer Olympics.[1][2][3][4]
Michelsen was first selected for the Black Sticks Women in June 2009, along with ten other players as the Black Sticks squad was overhauled following its last place finish at the2008 Beijing Olympics.[5] In February 2012, she was named the 2011 women's Young Player of the Year in theInternational Hockey Federation's (FIH)Player of the Year Awards.[6]
Born inWhangārei, Michelsen attendedKamo Intermediate[7] andKamo High School in Whangārei[8] andSt Cuthbert's College inAuckland.[9] She studies law and business at theUniversity of Auckland.[10] She announced her retirement from international play on 21 October 2021.[11]
