St Paul's Cathedral is an AustralianAnglicancathedralchurch located inSale, Victoria. The cathedral is themother church of theDiocese of Gippsland and is theseat of theBishop of Gippsland, currentlyRichard Treloar.

Design

The cathedral building, built in 1884 to a design by Nathaniel Billing,[1] is a double storey building with a rectangular footprint and is constructed of red brick and slate roofing.

The cathedral's interior is decorated in aGothic Revival style expressing ahigh church liturgy. The walls are of white rendered plaster withOregon roofbuttressing. Above thesanctuary is the "great westernwindow" depicting theSermon on the Mount and several other windows includeSt Paul'svision of the Macedonian[2] and the diocese'scoat of arms line thenave. Within the nave are aLady chapel, abishop'schapel and an honour roll.

The cathedral is the mother church of adiocese. Thedean is the chief resident cleric of a cathedral or othercollegiate church and the head of thechapter of canons. The dean is usually alsorector orincumbent of the parish. This is a list of the deans of Sale.[3][4]
