Stępinapronounced[stɛmˈpʲina] is avillage in the administrative district ofGmina Frysztak, withinStrzyżów County,Subcarpathian Voivodeship, in south-eastern Poland.[1] It lies approximately 7 kilometres (4 mi) north-west ofFrysztak, 16 km (10 mi) west ofStrzyżów, and 36 km (22 mi) south-west of the regional capitalRzeszów.

Stępina is the location of one of Hitler's bunkers calledAnlage Süd, built in1940-1941 with slave-labor from theSzebnie concentration camp nearby.[2] Over the course of the camp's operation some 10,000 people perished, includingSoviet prisoners of war,Polish Jews, non-JewishPoles, as well as Ukrainians andRomani people.[3]
The remains of the camp inSzebnie were entered by the Soviets on 8 September 1944 during counter-offensive of the Red Army.[3]
