The2028 Summer Olympics will include the sport ofsquash for the first time as an optional sport.[2][3] Squash had previously been rejected from theOlympic Games on four occasions in a row.[4] Competitions will be held in two events, men's individual and women's individual. Each field will consist of 16 players. The squash events are planned to be held on theUniversal Studios Lot inUniversal City, California.[1][5] The events will be sponsored byComcast.[6]
Squash has been a regular fixture at multi-sport events such as theAsian Games,Pan American Games,Commonwealth Games andWorld Games. It was accepted as ademonstration sport for the2018 Summer Youth Olympics.[7]
