Spiny lizards is acommon name for thegenusSceloporus in thefamilyPhrynosomatidae. The genus isendemic toNorth America, with various species ranging fromNew York, toWashington, and one occurring as far south as northernPanama.[1] The greatest diversity is found inMexico. This genus includes some of the most commonly seen lizards in theUnited States. Other common names for lizards in this genus includefence lizards,scaly lizards,bunchgrass lizards, andswifts.[2]
