Originally performed on stage by theBangarra Dance Theatre in 2000 under the titleSkin,[1]Spear was reimagined for film using mostly dance and movement.[2]
Spear was written and directed byStephen Page, father of Hunter Page-Lochard,[3] and produced byJohn Harvey.[4] Dancer and choreographerDaniel Riley worked as director's attachment and played a small part in the film.[5][3]
Spear was screened in the Discovery section of the2015 Toronto International Film Festival.[6]
It had its Australian premiere at theAdelaide Film Festival in October 2015 and was screened in theSydney Festival in January 2016.[2]
