Thespeaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives is the presiding officer of thePennsylvania House of Representatives.

Since its first session under theFrame of Government in 1682, presided over byWilliam Penn, over 130 house members have been elevated to the speaker's chair. The house cannot hold an official session in the absence of the speaker or their designatedspeaker pro tempore.

The current speaker isJoanna McClinton, who is the first female andfirst female African-American speaker.
